Yaro's video was pretty good. The last 10 minutes or so were probably the most useful for me.

Of course, I started wondering what screencast application he was using. I found it. It's called Screenflow. Very cool and easy to use... If you're on a Mac.

So I guess I got a two-for-one! :)

Hi Bob - I totally agree - there's so many sharks out there when it comes to "make money blogging" sites. I like Yaro too and I didn't know about the free video - thanks for letting me know.

Hi Bob,

This seems to be a growing theme around the blogosphere. I'm not really interested in affiliate ads on my blog either, but I do want to explore the possibilities of efficiently using a blog as a marketing tool to attract new clients. I am currently writing a series of blog posts exploring that issue.

Question for you: do you measure how many clients/projects you get directly from your blog? Do you know roughly how much income your blog generates vs. the time you put into it? I'm not looking for your financials here, just an overview about if and how you measure results.

Thanks!

~Graham

You couldn't be more right about the multitude of sharks circling out there.

I think one of the great things about the relational aspect of blogging is that it allows the good people to rise to the top while keeping the charlatans at the bottom.

That's opposed to the business world where too many climb to the top using dirty tactics and bad business practices, but that's because the prevailing mindset in business is about competition and blogging is about collaboration. And that's why I prefer not to look at my own work as a writer from a competitive point of view.

I like Yaro, not least because he's an Australian. ;)

Good post and recommendations, Bob. And we miss you on Twitter!
